Federal government invests $267M in forest industry after U.S. increases tariffs on exports

Canada came out swinging in the renewed turf war with the United States over softwood lumber.

In response to the U.S. government's decision to raise tariffs on Canadian lumber, the Canadian government announced on June 1 it would contribute almost $1 billion in financial support for Canadian softwood lumber producers and their employees.
