Resolute partners with Habitat for Humanity to build new homes in the U.S.

Members of the Marion County Board of Commissioners, Habitat for Humanity of Florida and Resolute Forest Products attend an event to celebrate new homes being built for families in Florida's Lower Keys. The Diaz family is one of the 10 families chosen to be a part of a new community living area in Key West.

February 27, 2018, marked a key milestone for people in the Lower Florida Keys who are still cleaning up after the destruction of Hurricane Irma last fall.

Habitat for Humanity of Florida held an event last week to celebrate 10 families who will soon be able to move into their new homes in the area, where some of the most severe damage occurred.

Resolute donated a railcar of spruce pine fir lumber – 112,000 board feet in total from our La Doré (Quebec) sawmill – to construct 10 new homes, which are currently being built in Ocala, located in Central Florida. The homes are being fabricated in sections, placed on flatbed trucks and shipped south, where they will then be reassembled. The families hope to move into their new homes during the fall of 2018.

Resolute's sawmill employees signed planks of lumber that will be displayed in a common area near the homes, alongside a plaque that will highlight Resolute's contribution to the rebuilding efforts.
