Swedish startup Adsorbi has unveiled its latest innovation: a cellulose-based air freshener designed to effectively eliminate household odors and air pollutants.

This launch marks a significant expansion of the company's product portfolio, as it scales up its commercial operations.

Originating from research at Chalmers University of Technology, Adsorbi's new product offers a sustainable alternative to conventional odor removal solutions. Made from sustainably harvested Nordic wood and produced in Sweden, the air freshener boasts superior performance in capturing volatile air pollutants and removing unwanted smells from everyday items.

Hanna Johansson, CEO and Co-Founder of Adsorbi, emphasized the product's unique qualities: "We've developed an adsorbing material that not only eliminates household odors but does so using bio-based resources. Our technology ensures cleaner air and greater protection from pollutants."

The air freshener's innovative design includes a color-changing indicator, allowing users to easily identify when replacement is necessary. This feature enhances the product's efficiency and user-friendliness.

Adsorbi's expansion into the household air freshener market is timely, as the global market for such products is projected to reach USD 28.72 billion by 2033. The company's focus on eco-friendly solutions aligns with growing consumer demand for sustainable household products.

This launch follows Adsorbi's successful introduction of a cellulose-based material for art conservation, currently used in museums and archives worldwide. The company's innovative approach has garnered recognition, including winning the national final at the SEB Next Awards in the New Ideas category in September 2024.

Backed by Metsä Spring, Chalmers Ventures, and Jovitech Invest, Adsorbi continues to push the boundaries of sustainable air purification technology, setting new standards in the industry.
