Paperweek Canada and Biofor International 2020: Digitization for the forest industry

Digital technologies are omnipresent in our daily lives. More and more, these technologies are specializing to create high-precision tools for work environments.

And the forestry sector is no exception to this trend. Whether it is virtual or augmented reality for forest operations management, or wood-based 3D printing that is achieving increasingly high levels of accuracy, digitization is creating incredible opportunities to transform the management of the forest industry.

In a bio-economy environment, the use of digital technologies in the forest products sector is expected to be fundamental to the transformation of this industry; however, there is still some way to go.

As part of the PaperWeek Canada and Biofor International 2020 events, which will be held together in Montreal, February 3-6, under the themeBioeconomy: From innovative breakthroughs to new business models, Stéphane Renou, President and CEO of FPInnovations, will be a guest speaker at the February 4thluncheon. At that time, he will present FPInnovations‘ vision of the role that digitization technologies can play in the future of the forest sector as well as its various applications and he will also serve as the moderator of a panel discussion.

Active participation by FPInnovations 

The joint PaperWeek Canada and Biofor International 2020 event will provide various opportunities to hear and meet members of the FPInnovations team. In particular, a day dedicated to sanitary and household papers, to be held on Thursday, January 6, will be hosted by FPInnovations‘ researchers.

Participants are invited to visit the FPInnovationsnetworking area, designed to encourage exchanges and create an environment conducive to business discussions. Participants will also get the opportunity to attend flash presentations by FPInnovations staff on current topics.

And lastly, participating in the various sessionsour experts will provide an opportunity to learn more about the progress of our research projects. The program may be consulted on the conference website.
