FPInnovations was very proud to welcome a record number of participants to its Pulp, Paper and Bioproducts course at its Pointe-Claire headquarters.
The interactive course, held from October 15 to 19, attracted nearly twice as many participants as usual this year. Designed specifically for the purpose of improving knowledge for a wide spectrum of industry professionals, the course also featured presentations, discussions and hands-on workshops on various subjects, ranging from fibre supply to finished products and new bioproducts.
Over 25 speakers shared their knowledge on various topics, such as wood chemistry, pulp and paper manufacturing processes and recycling. Other subjects, such as Canada's efficiency as a responsible forest resource advocate and the methods to modify product properties, were also discussed.
The participants from everywhere in Canada and the United States were mainly from the research sector and included engineers, researchers, technical representatives, vendors and government employees. Among them, many were young industry professionals looking to improve their knowledge in the industry, while others were looking to innovate in their sector. Several FPInnovations key members such as Resolute Forest Products, Kruger, West Fraser, Alberta Newsprint, Al-Pac and Fortress Paper were also present. Certificates of attendance were issued to each participant, vouching for the new knowledge gathered.
