Scierie Bois d'Or aims to develop the market for red pine in Abitibi-Témiscamingue
During a mill visit, Denis Houle, the owner of the Scierie Bois d'Or, requested technical support from an FPInnovations industrial advisor with regard to techniques used to prevent the exudation of red pine resin. The sawmill, located in the village of Rollet in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, produces white pine, red pine, and larch boards, which are then dried to be used as moldings, floor strips, paneling, and beams.
After consultation with FPInnovations' kiln drying experts, industrial advisor Alain Chabot was able to recommend the best drying practices to Mr. Houle in order to counter the red pine resin exudation. The company must now apply FPInnovations' recommendations by performing tests with its own drying equipment.
Thanks to FPInnovations' advice to prevent resin exudation, Mr. Houle hopes he will be able to develop the red pine market in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region.
