FPInnovations is proud to announce that the 2019 edition of the Canadian CLT Handbook is now available in French.

This publication — completely revised and improved based on new research performed by FPInnovations and partners — reflects changes made to Canadian construction codes and standards.

The 2019 edition includes the new CLT provisions in the Canadian Standards Association’s Standard in Engineering Design in Wood. In addition to providing leading-edge information on chapters covered in the 2011 edition, this new edition includes an extra chapter, Design Examples, which provides state-of-the-art design prototype of an eight-story mass timber building. The chapter was written in collaboration with well-known Canadian structural engineers who already have numerous CLT projects to their credit.

Nearly 5,000 copies of the English version are already in circulation

Cross-laminated timber (CLT) is increasingly used in the sustainable construction of mid- to high-rise and of larger surface buildings in Canada and has a firm footing in the mass-timber-building global movement. This revised edition of the Canadian CLT Handbook is part of a series of publications from FPInnovations that support wood construction.

The two-volume Handbook was funded by the B.C. government’s Forestry Innovation Investment Ltd. (FII) agency, Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (OMNRF), Structurlam, Nordic Structures, the Québec Ministry of Forests, Wildlife and Parks (MFFP), the Province of Alberta, and the Centre for Research & Innovation in the Bio-Economy (CRIBE).
