The program for the Woodrise 2019 conference, to be held in Quebec City from September 30 to October 4, is now complete, and attendees can look forward to an exciting range of international speakers.

The conference will address such topics as new policies around the world, the emergence of wood construction projects internationally, and how wood construction contributes to the bio-economy and the carbon market.

To kick things off, those attending the keynote address on Monday, September 30, will have the privilege of hearing the world-renowned engineer Richard Woschitz, who holds a doctorate in technical sciences. In 1996, Dr. Woschitz founded his first company, which has since become the Woschitz Group. The consulting firm has received numerous awards over the years for its commitment to wood construction, sustainability and innovation. Richard Woschitz is the principal engineer for Vienna’s 84-metre HoHo Tower—the world benchmark for multi-storey construction—whose 24 floors are home to apartments as well as hotel, business and service areas.

More high-calibre speakers have been added to the program of plenary sessions, including Mario Rando, Senior Engineer with Degree of Freedom in Oslo (Norway), whose accomplishments entail complex projects like train stations, bridges, high-rise buildings, and wide-span roofs, in addition to Ana Belizario and Carolina Bueno, who will be presenting the AMATA Urban Forest project slated for construction in São Paulo, Brazil. The closing address will consider how the use of wood impacts quality of life and comfort in cities built with this material and will be given by architect Marie-France Stendahl, Head of Business Development, Canada, for the Swedish firm White Malmö.
