FSC Canada commends the Canadian Forest Sector Transformation Task Force on delivering its final report following an intensive 90-day engagement process across the country.

The report makes an important contribution to the national conversation on the future of Canada’s forest sector, highlighting the need for coordinated action among industry, governments, Indigenous Peoples, and civil society to strengthen competitiveness, resilience, and long-term relevance.

“This report comes at a pivotal moment for Canada’s forest sector. FSC Canada welcomes the focus on building competitiveness and resilience, and we see a strong opportunity to work with partners to advance solutions that support responsible forest management, strengthen trust, and deliver value across economic, environmental, and social priorities.”

- Monika Patel, President and CEO, FSC Canada

The report reinforces the growing importance of credible, independently verified forest management in meeting expectations from global markets, investors, and communities. As demand rises for low-carbon, traceable, and responsibly sourced forest products, Canada has a clear opportunity to lead through measurable and trusted outcomes.

FSC Canada stands ready to collaborate with Indigenous Peoples, governments, and industry partners to help translate the Task Force’s recommendations into practical action. By advancing responsible forest management, supporting Indigenous-led stewardship, and enabling transparent supply chains, we can ensure Canada’s forest sector remains competitive while setting a global benchmark for sustainability and accountability.
