Yesterday, on August 21st, UPM announced plans to permanently close its Hürth newsprint mill and shut down one fine paper machine (PM 3) at Nordland Papier in Dörpen, Germany.
Today, UPM revealed that the Kaukas and Kymi pulp mills in Finland will reduce their production due to market conditions.
Interestingly, the "lost" production volume of softwood at both Finnish pulp mills matches the softwood requirements for PM 3 at Dörpen until the end of the year.
Could this indicate that UPM might permanently close one of its softwood market pulp lines in the coming months?
