Weyerhaeuser Company announced its plan to invest approximately $500 million to build a new, state-of-the-art 10 million cubic feet facility (TimberStrand®) near Monticello and Warren, Arkansas.

Although a biomass cogeneration energy system to supply the mill was announced, Weyerhaeuser highlights that the investment will increase its presence in the “mass timber market.”

There are two virgin integrated pulp and paper mills in the region: Cypress Bend, from Clearwater, and Pine Bluff, which now belongs to Suzano.

Will Suzano take advantage of this new wood supply and increase Pine Bluff’s output?
