Choosing industrial batteries can be complicated—there are just so many options that it can be difficult to decide which factors are most important: Ah capacity, chemistry, charging speed, cycle life, brand, price, etc.

As the “life blood” of your plant’s operation, electric motors require special lubrication considerations. The theoretical design life of an electric motor is 20 years or more. Yet many tens of thousands of industrial electric motors end up in the trash pile prematurely. This results in an enormous loss for industries across the board.

I was seventeen years old when I joined the Swedish Merchant Marines as an apprentice in the engine room of M/T Sven Salen, a 40,000 d.w.t. oil tanker with 24,000 hp on two huge diesel engines. Do you let your faucets run? No. Well, the same should apply to your compressed air piping system. However, unlike water or oil leaks, air leaks are invisible and won’t cause damage... but they're just as costly! So what should you do? Be proactive: start a leak detection program and keep it up.

In papermaking, linting or dusting is the loss of fibers from the paper sheet. It typically occurs early in the drying process and creates buildup on dryers and wears doctor blades. It is also a fire hazard. Although linting occurs in the dryer section, it is not caused by the dryer section. It starts in the forming section.

Any improvement initiative within reliability and maintenance is a journey towards a state of continuous improvement. You will never reach a final destination. You might state that your goal is 95% planned and scheduled maintenance and 96% reliability.
