Metsä Fibre has named its Renko sawmill as the company’s safest production unit of 2025 among its eight industrial facilities.
The selection was based on the total recordable injury frequency (TRIF) for both employees and contractors, as well as the site’s performance in implementing proactive safety measures.
According to the company, no accidents involving Metsä Fibre employees or contractor personnel were recorded at the Renko sawmill during the past year.
“The accident-free period has now exceeded 560 days, which is an excellent indication of long-term and committed safety work,” said Virva Juhola, Vice President, Sawn Timber Production at Metsä Fibre.
The company said corrective actions and preventive safety initiatives remained at a high level throughout the year. Personnel at the sawmill also improved production efficiency, which Metsä Fibre said demonstrates the link between workplace safety and operational performance.
Juhola said the company continues to emphasize occupational safety across its operations and among external partners and suppliers.
“At Metsä Fibre, a safe workplace is a right for everyone,” she said.
Located in Finland, the Renko sawmill is part of Metsä Fibre’s sawn timber business, which also produces pulp, bioproducts and bioenergy derived from northern wood raw materials.
Metsä Fibre, part of Metsä Group, produces pulp, sawn timber and other wood-based bioproducts. In 2025, the company reported sales of EUR 2.6 billion and employed approximately 1,400 people.
