Ahlstrom, a global leader in fiber-based specialty materials, has announced its acquisition of ErtelAlsop, a New York-based manufacturer specializing in high-performance liquid depth filter media.

The move bolsters Ahlstrom’s position in the life sciences filtration market and introduces the company to the depth filtration segment, supporting its vision of becoming a leader in sustainable specialty materials.

ErtelAlsop, known for its expertise in filtration for industries such as pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, and chemicals, will integrate into Ahlstrom’s Filtration and Life Sciences division. The acquisition aligns with Ahlstrom’s strategy to expand its lab and life sciences offerings and accelerate growth in key markets.

“Ahlstrom’s purpose to purify and protect with every fiber aligns perfectly with ErtelAlsop’s innovation and technical expertise,” said Daniele Borlatto, Executive Vice President for Filtration and Life Sciences at Ahlstrom.

The deal enhances Ahlstrom’s production and engineering capabilities, allowing the company to deliver customized solutions to existing and new customers. It also supports the company’s sustainability-driven mission and product development initiatives.

With the addition of ErtelAlsop, Ahlstrom continues its growth transformation, targeting global trends with sustainable solutions across its three divisions: Filtration and Life Sciences, Food and Consumer Packaging, and Protective Materials.

In 2023, Ahlstrom reported net sales of EUR 3 billion and employed approximately 7,000 people worldwide.
