Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) and Canadian National (CN) have both announced their intentions to lock out employees represented by the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) if they cannot reach negotiated settlements or agree to binding interest arbitration by 00:01 ET on August 22.

CPKC has notified both the TCRC’s Train and Engine (T&E) division and Rail Traffic Controller (RCTC) division of its plans to implement a lockout, emphasizing its commitment to continue good faith negotiations. Similarly, CN has issued notice to its TCRC-represented employees, formally advising them of the impending lockout on the same date.

Despite ongoing negotiations over the weekend, no meaningful progress has been made, and both parties remain far apart in their discussions.
