Domtar has begun installing a new high-speed tissue converting line at its Calhoun, Tennessee site, strengthening the mill’s converting capacity and operational balance.
The new equipment is designed to raise output and improve efficiency. It will better align tissue production with converting operations, a key factor in serving the US tissue market more effectively.
To support the project, the site is also expanding its warehouse dedicated to parent tissue rolls. The additional space will ease inventory flow and give the mill greater operational flexibility as volumes increase.
“This investment underscores the company’s continued commitment to operational excellence and future growth in the US tissue market,” said Tony Sanders, vice president of sales and marketing.
According to Domtar, the upgraded converting line will support higher and more consistent product quality in response to growing market demand. The expanded warehousing will provide the infrastructure needed to support both current operations and future production requirements.
Domtar is a privately held manufacturer of pulp, paper, packaging, tissue, and wood products, operating more than 60 facilities across North America. The company employs nearly 14,000 people and focuses on operational performance and responsible use of forest resources.
