Graphic Packaging Holding Company has ranked fifth overall on 3BL’s 2026 “100 Best Corporate Citizens” list and first in the materials sector.
The annual ranking assesses major publicly traded U.S. companies based on their performance and transparency across a range of corporate citizenship issues. Graphic Packaging also placed among the top five companies in the environment and human rights categories.
Established in 1999, the ranking evaluates the 1,000 companies in the Russell 1000. The 2026 edition considers 221 factors across seven pillars: climate change, employees, environment, governance, human rights, stakeholders and society, and overall performance.
The methodology is developed by 3BL in collaboration with ISS-Corporate, using data researched by ISS STOXX. It is regularly reviewed to reflect changes in disclosure practices and sustainability issues.
A distinguishing feature of the ranking is that the information considered must be publicly available, including corporate websites, financial filings, policies and reports. Companies are not required to complete a questionnaire or submit an application, and there is no fee to be considered. They may, however, review certain data collected about them through a dedicated portal.
Graphic Packaging attributed its ranking in part to initiatives related to resource efficiency, responsible sourcing and human rights due diligence across its value chain. In its announcement, President and CEO Robbert Rietbroek also linked the recognition to the operational standards maintained by the company’s teams.
The 3BL recognition follows several other distinctions received by Graphic Packaging in 2026, including recognition from Ethisphere, Fortune and JUST Capital. Each of these rankings, however, is based on a different methodology.
Headquartered in Atlanta, Graphic Packaging designs and manufactures consumer packaging for markets including food, beverages, foodservice, household products and other consumer goods. Its packaging is made primarily from renewable or recycled materials.
