HarperLove has acquired ChromaScape’s corrugated products business, broadening its customer relationships, geographic reach and portfolio of specialty solutions for corrugated box manufacturers.

Formerly known as CEL Chemical, the acquired business supplies several specialty products used in corrugated packaging operations. Its portfolio includes LBX®, a replacement for borax and caustic chemicals in starch formulations; CorrMax®, a range of performance-enhancing additives; and WaterGuard®, a wet-strength resin.

HarperLove said the acquisition will strengthen its relationships with corrugated producers in key markets and further enhance the packaging adhesives platform of its parent company, HBM Holdings.

Kenny Messer, HarperLove’s president and CEO, said the transaction represents a further step in the company’s long-term growth strategy. He added that combining ChromaScape’s established customer relationships with HarperLove’s technical expertise and manufacturing capabilities would allow the company to support customers across additional regions.

The Charlotte, North Carolina-based company also plans to add new capabilities and talent as it integrates the acquired business. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

HarperLove manufactures adhesives, performance additives and technical solutions for the corrugated packaging industry. The company is part of HBM Holdings, a privately held group that acquires and partners with middle-market industrial businesses.
