The International Corrugated Packaging Foundation (ICPF) has donated a new Emerson Apparatus compression tester to Virginia Tech's Packaging Systems & Design Program.

This vital equipment will enhance undergraduate education, support research initiatives, and replace an older, non-functional model.

"This donation will equip Virginia Tech students with the knowledge and skills crucial to the corrugated industry," said ICPF President Caitlin Salaverria. "The program provides in-depth training, and this new tester will further enhance their learning experience."

The Packaging Systems & Design program at Virginia Tech emphasizes experiential learning in areas like structural design, package dynamics, and material science.

"This state-of-the-art equipment will significantly enhance student learning," said Eduardo Molina, Assistant Professor of Packaging Systems and Design. "Students will gain hands-on experience with material testing and evaluation, applying this knowledge throughout their academic journey."

ICPF has a long history of supporting higher education. Through its University Awards Program, the foundation has provided over $13 million in equipment and grants to universities across the country, fostering the development of a highly skilled workforce for the corrugated packaging industry.

The International Corrugated Packaging Foundation (ICPF) is an independent, non-profit 501(c)3 corporation dedicated to growing the labor force of the corrugated packaging industry now and into the future. Co-sponsored by AICC – The Independent Packaging Association and the Fibre Box Association (FBA), ICPF partners with students, universities and industry companies to bring a talented workforce of motivated, qualified graduates to the corrugated packaging industry.
