International Paper, a global leader in renewable fiber-based packaging, pulp, and paper products, announced a $260 million investment to construct a new, state-of-the-art corrugated packaging facility in Waterloo, Iowa.
Approved by the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) Board, this project highlights International Paper’s commitment to growth and innovation while creating new opportunities in the Waterloo region.
The 900,000-square-foot facility, to be located near the Waterloo Regional Airport, will replace the company’s current plant at 800 W. Parker Street, which employs 199 team members. The new facility, five times larger than the existing site, will create 90 additional high-quality jobs, significantly boosting local employment and economic development.
The new plant will primarily manufacture corrugated packaging products, including cardboard boxes and other materials made from corrugated fiberboard, which are essential for shipping and packaging goods across industries.
