Irving Forest Products has announced its acquisition of the Masardis Sawmill in Masardis, Maine, a facility known for its production of random-length spruce and fir lumber.

The sale, finalized on January 5, 2025, was completed with Groupe Lebel.

The Masardis Sawmill employs 80 workers and boasts an annual production capacity of 115 million board feet. Located near Irving’s 1.3 million acres of timberlands in Maine, the mill is strategically positioned for access to high-quality timber and efficient transportation via the Maine Northern Railway.

“This acquisition allows us to expand our lumber production capacity in Maine,” said Jerome Pelletier, Vice President of Irving Forest Products. “The Masardis team’s expertise and commitment are integral to the success of this operation.”

With this addition, J.D. Irving, Limited now operates 10 sawmills across its solid wood division, with a combined annual capacity of 1.3 billion board feet.
