Kimberly-Clark has announced a major expansion of its manufacturing operations in Mobile, Alabama, with a planned investment exceeding $130 million.
The project includes the installation of a new production line focused on the next generation of hygiene products, expected to be operational by the third quarter of 2027.
The investment will create approximately 29 new skilled positions and further strengthen Kimberly-Clark’s presence in the region. It reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to innovation and its strategy to better meet evolving consumer needs across North America.
“This expansion represents a strategic investment in Kimberly-Clark’s future,” said Tamera Fenske, Chief Supply Chain Officer at Kimberly-Clark. “It enhances our North American manufacturing capabilities and deepens our longstanding partnership with the Mobile community.”
Local officials praised the announcement as a sign of Mobile’s continued appeal to global manufacturers. “Kimberly-Clark is one of Mobile’s cornerstone employers,” said Bradley Byrne, President and CEO of the Mobile Chamber. “This investment underscores the strength of our workforce and business climate.”
The new line will not only expand production capacity but also reinforce the Mobile site’s role within Kimberly-Clark’s global supply network. For Mobile County Commission President Merceria Ludgood, the announcement represents “a strong vote of confidence in our workforce and the future of Mobile County.”
Mayor Sandy Stimpson echoed those sentiments, adding, “Companies that invest in Mobile continue to invest here. This expansion secures existing jobs and opens the door for new opportunities.”
The project is expected to bolster the company’s ability to deliver consumer-preferred products, while also supporting economic growth and job creation in the region.
