Kruger Inc. has launched the Tuckamore Project, a long-term revitalization initiative for its Corner Brook Pulp and Paper (CBPP) mill in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The project aims to transform the site into an integrated industrial and energy hub, strengthening the mill's long-term competitiveness while helping meet the province's growing energy needs.

Darren Pelley, Vice President, Special Projects at Kruger, outlined the project's strategic vision during a presentation to the Greater Corner Brook Board of Trade on July 14.

A long-term modernization strategy

According to Kruger, the Tuckamore Project provides a roadmap for the future of the Corner Brook operation. The initiative includes modernizing mill infrastructure, advancing responsible forest management and developing new renewable energy opportunities.

"The Tuckamore Project is our roadmap to secure the future of Corner Brook Pulp and Paper. By modernizing our facilities, advancing responsible forest management and developing new renewable energy sources, we are strengthening the site's competitiveness and its ability to contribute to Newfoundland and Labrador's economy for years to come," said Darren Pelley.

The project is intended to reinforce the mill's role in the regional economy while supporting the province's growing demand for energy.

Community engagement office opens

As part of its commitment to transparency and community engagement, Corner Brook Pulp and Paper will open a dedicated Tuckamore Project Community Office on July 15.

Located in the CRI Building at 3 Mill Road in Corner Brook, the office will allow residents to learn more about the project, ask questions and share feedback. It will be open to the public Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
