Kruger has successfully implemented an energy efficiency project at its packaging plant in Trois-Rivières.

The project, which involved the installation of a steam box on one of its paper machines, is expected to reduce natural gas consumption by over one million cubic meters annually.

This significant reduction in energy usage will lead to a decrease of approximately 1,949 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions per year. This achievement aligns with Kruger's ongoing commitment to sustainable development and environmental responsibility.

The project was made possible through financial support from Énergir, as part of their energy efficiency program, Energy Diagnosis and Implementation. This program aims to assist businesses in implementing energy-saving measures.

By optimizing steam usage in the paper machine, the new steam box not only enhances energy efficiency but also contributes to increased productivity and reduced operating costs for the Trois-Rivières plant.

Kruger continues to explore innovative ways to minimize its environmental impact and promote sustainable practices across its operations.

Founded in Montréal in 1904, Kruger Inc. has become a key player in pulp and paper, tissue products, renewable energy, and recycled packaging. With over 6,000 employees across Canada and the U.S., Kruger has long emphasized sustainable practices.
