Mercer International announced on September 25, 2024, that its Peace River mill in Canada has temporarily halted operations due to a mechanical failure in the digester.

The company expects repairs to be completed by mid-October 2024, resulting in a reduction of approximately 45,000 tonnes in Northern Bleached Hardwood Kraft (NBHK) pulp production during this period.

Mercer International has assured investors that the repairs and any resulting business interruption are covered by property and business interruption insurance, subject to standard deductibles and coverage limits.

The Peace River mill is one of Mercer International's global operations, contributing to the company's significant production capacity. Mercer produces a variety of forest products, including pulp, lumber, cross-laminated timber, glulam beams, pallets, and biofuels, across its facilities in Germany, the United States, and Canada.
