The provincial government and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry say that new forestry restrictions are meant to protect local forests, not endanger local jobs.

Recently, new provincial regulations were announced – resulting in a roughly 25 per cent reduction in softwood logging in the Wabigoon Forest, along with a 50 per cent cut to hardwood operations for Kenora’s Weyerhaeuser mill.
