Seaman Paper Company, a global leader in sustainable paper and packaging solutions, has acquired the Glatz Group, including Julius Glatz GmbH, PaperTec GmbH, and Glatz TransTec GmbH.
The acquisition strengthens Seaman Paper’s presence in Europe while enhancing its capabilities in sustainable, fiber-based solutions.
Founded in 1885 and headquartered in Neidenfels, Germany, the Glatz Group specializes in high-quality technical and lightweight specialty papers. The acquisition brings approximately 240 employees into Seaman Paper’s global workforce. The Glatz brand and facilities will continue operating independently, with plans for strategic growth and increased production capacity.
Kenneth Winterhalter, CEO of Seaman Paper, described the acquisition as a “natural next step” for both family-owned companies, which share aligned values. “We are inspired by the talent and technological expertise of the Glatz team,” Winterhalter said. “This partnership will sustain and grow the legacy business while enhancing our portfolio of sustainable solutions.”
The move complements Seaman Paper’s existing operations in Rastatt, Germany, acquired in 2015, which focuses on tissue and crepe paper production. The company aims to invest in the Glatz Group’s growth, develop new product lines, and expand into new markets.
Nina Ritter-Reischl, former co-owner and Managing Director of Glatz, welcomed the acquisition, emphasizing the shared values between the two firms. “This partnership paves the way for a stable and sustainable future,” she said, highlighting Glatz’s commitment to contributing its expertise to an international platform.
The acquisition positions Seaman Paper for long-term growth by combining its global reach and financial strength with Glatz’s technological leadership in specialty papers. Both companies aim to accelerate the replacement of single-use plastics with innovative, sustainable paper solutions.
