Industry News

Sonoco Products Company has announced a $30 million capital investment to expand its capacity in the growing adhesives and sealants (A&S) market.

The move will add 100 million units of annual production capacity across three facilities, aiming to meet increasing demand and improve supply reliability.

The investment includes both enhancements to existing production lines and the installation of new equipment. According to Sonoco, the initiative reflects its commitment to innovation, operational efficiency, and customer service.

“At Sonoco, we are committed to investing in the latest technology and production efficiencies to support the evolving needs of our customers,” said Elizabeth Rhue, Vice President and General Manager of Rigid Paper Containers North America.

By distributing the expanded capacity across multiple facilities, Sonoco seeks to strengthen its supply chain resilience and ensure more consistent delivery of materials to customers. The company did not specify which locations will receive the upgrades but confirmed that one facility is based in Orange County, Florida.

Local officials welcomed the announcement, viewing it as a sign of regional economic strength. Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings praised the company’s continued growth in the area, while Tim Giuliani, President and CEO of the Orlando Economic Partnership, emphasized the importance of such investments for long-term job creation and economic development.

The move comes as demand continues to rise for adhesive and sealant products in a range of applications, including packaging and manufacturing. Sonoco, which employs approximately 23,400 people worldwide, continues to position itself as a key supplier of sustainable and reliable packaging solutions.

The company was recently recognized by Newsweek as one of America’s Most Trustworthy and Responsible Companies in 2025.
