TimberHP and Weyerhaeuser have announced a commercial partnership to expand the U.S. distribution of wood-fiber insulation, opening broader market opportunities for building materials manufactured from softwood processing residuals.

Under the agreement announced October 8, Weyerhaeuser will hold U.S. commercialization and distribution rights for TimberHP's TimberBatt and TimberBoard insulation products through the lumber and building materials channel. TimberFill blown-in insulation will retain its existing distribution arrangements.

The partnership also highlights an alternative use for wood fiber traditionally associated with pulp and paper manufacturing. TimberHP operates in a former paper mill in Madison, Maine, which closed in 2016 and was converted into a wood-fiber insulation manufacturing facility. Production began at the repurposed site in 2023.

The facility transforms residual softwood fiber into insulation products for residential and commercial construction, illustrating how former papermaking infrastructure and forest-industry raw materials can serve emerging building-material markets.

Weyerhaeuser's distribution network is expected to broaden access to TimberHP products among building-material dealers, contractors and builders. The companies will also collaborate on technical support, product education and installation training.

Beyond distribution, the agreement provides a framework for exploring additional wood-based building materials.

While the announcement does not include new production investments or capacity expansions, it reflects efforts to develop commercial markets for wood-derived materials beyond conventional forest products.
