The Wisconsin Paper Council (WPC) has announced that applications for the Women in Forest Products Scholarship are now open for the 2025 academic year.
The scholarship fund, established in coordination with Ahlstrom, aims to support female high school graduates pursuing careers in the forest products industry and develop women already working in the field.
Scholarship Details
Two types of scholarships are available:

High School Scholarship: $1,000

For graduating female students in Wisconsin

Must plan to attend an accredited 2- or 4-year college, university, or technical school in Wisconsin

Pursuing a career in forest products or paper industry

Leadership Scholarship: $1,000

For women currently working full-time in the paper industry or related field in Wisconsin

Must plan to further their education in leadership, certificate programs, or MBA

Industry Impact
The forest products industry is a significant economic driver in Wisconsin, employing over 57,000 people. Angie Sheehan, President and CEO of Little Rapids Corporation, emphasized the importance of nurturing the next generation of leaders, particularly women, in shaping the industry's future.
Previous Recipients
In August 2024, Carissa Ashman became the first recipient of this scholarship. She is currently attending the University of Green Bay, majoring in environmental engineering. Ashman was also recognized with a Certificate of Achievement from the Office of Governor Tony Evers.
