Ahlstrom has announced the successful completion of the divestment of its Aspa pulp mill in Sweden to Sweden Timber.

The transaction, initially announced in October 2024, marks a significant milestone for Ahlstrom's strategic shift towards its core specialty materials business.

Sweden Timber, a well-established Swedish company known for its wood, paper, and wood composite products, aims to leverage this acquisition to expand its portfolio by entering the pulp production sector. The Aspa mill, with its annual capacity of approximately 200,000 tonnes of bleached and unbleached softwood pulp, provides a strong foundation for further growth within Sweden Timber.

“This divestment is a strategic move that aligns perfectly with Ahlstrom's transformation journey,” stated Wolfgang Laures, Chief Operating Officer at Ahlstrom. “By focusing on our specialty materials portfolio, we can further strengthen our position as a leader in sustainable solutions. We believe Sweden Timber, with its focus on wood product development, offers a promising future for the Aspa mill and its employees.”

The press release emphasizes Ahlstrom's commitment to ensuring a smooth transition for the Aspa mill and its workforce throughout the divestment process.
