Ireland’s largest tissue paper manufacturer, Aldar Tissue, has officially opened a new €15 million production facility in Rathcoole, Dublin, marking a significant boost in local production capacity and a step forward in sustainability.

The state-of-the-art, 100,000-square-foot plant is set to double Aldar’s workforce by 2026, creating 30 new jobs, and aims to meet up to 40% of Ireland’s demand for bathroom tissue and kitchen towels—traditionally met by imports from the UK and mainland Europe.

The facility, which features fully automated, high-speed production lines with robotic packing and wrapping technology, allows Aldar to produce up to 600 meters or 200 packs of tissue products per minute, with over 60 variations available. By 2026, the facility plans to expand operations to a 24/7 schedule, enhancing production flexibility and further increasing capacity.

Aldar, part of the Zeus Group since 2019, underscores sustainability at the new plant by processing raw materials locally. “This approach cuts carbon emissions by reducing the need for long-distance transportation of raw materials,” explained Keith Ockenden, CEO of Zeus. “It not only lowers our carbon footprint but also ensures products are delivered more sustainably and cost-effectively.”

Ireland’s tissue market, valued at €155 million in 2023, sees growing demand from both retail and commercial sectors. With the new facility, Aldar aims to support the Irish economy and contribute to national sustainability goals.

Aldar Tissue is Ireland's largest manufacturer of household and commercial tissue products, specializing in high-quality kitchen towels and bathroom tissues.
