Metsä Group has confirmed that operations at its Kreuzau plant in Germany remain unaffected following an incident in the boiler house area early Saturday morning.

At approximately 12:20 AM on July 5, steam was released in the boiler facility, prompting a swift response from the local fire department. Metsä Tissue, part of Metsä Group, reported that no fire broke out and no injuries occurred.

Thanks to the timely intervention by emergency responders, the situation was brought under control quickly. The company emphasized that there was no disruption to production, which continues as normal.

The Kreuzau facility is one of the largest tissue paper production sites in Europe and plays a key role in Metsä Tissue’s operations in Central Europe.

Metsä Tissue, a business of Metsä Group, produces hygiene and greaseproof paper products under brands such as Lambi, Serla, Mola, Tento, Katrin, and SAGA. In 2024, it reported EUR 1.2 billion in sales and employed approximately 2,500 people. Metsä Group is owned by around 90,000 Finnish forest owners through the Metsäliitto Cooperative.
