Essity has confirmed the opening date of its new £30m+ recycled paper facility at its largest UK manufacturing site in Prudhoe.
The new facility will increase Essity’s recycled fibre capacity to more than 100,000 tonnes per year, supplying fibre used in consumer tissue production. Essity is already the UK’s largest user of recycled fibre for consumer tissue and the leading user of recycled fibre for tissue manufacturing in Europe.
According to the company, the investment strengthens the resilience of its UK operations by expanding domestic recycled fibre supply. The added capacity is expected to support production continuity while reducing reliance on virgin fibre.
Prudhoe is Essity’s largest manufacturing site in the UK. The addition of the recycled paper unit further reinforces the site’s role within the company’s European tissue manufacturing footprint.
Essity is a global hygiene and health company and a leading producer of tissue products, with operations across Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
