On October 1, 2024, the European Commission proposed an additional 12 months for the phased implementation of the EU Deforestation Regulation, responding to concerns from global partners.
If approved, the new deadlines will be December 2025 for large companies and June 2026 for small enterprises. The Commission also released additional guidance to help stakeholders prepare for the law. This extension aims to ensure a smooth transition without altering the law’s goals.
