DS Smith, a leading packaging company, has announced a substantial investment of €11.35 million in expanding its Cartogal production plant located in Galicia, Spain.

This strategic move aims to increase the factory's surface area, as well as enhance its production and storage capacity.

The expansion project is a significant milestone for DS Smith, forming part of its global strategy and opening up new opportunities in the northwest region of Iberia. The company anticipates that the expansion will not only lead to increased production capacity but also improve its overall service to customers.

The DS Smith Cartogal plant will see an addition of 6,000 square meters, resulting in a total packaging plant covering more than 17,000 square meters. The construction work, estimated to take approximately seven months, will involve laying foundations, constructing new buildings, and making improvements to current resources. The facilities will also be prepared to accommodate new machinery, which is expected to be installed by the end of 2023.

With an already impressive presence of 26 plants in Iberia, DS Smith's expansion of the Cartogal plant demonstrates the company's commitment to meeting customer demands while supporting economic growth in the region. Ignacio Montfort, the Managing Director of DS Smith Iberia, expressed pride in the expansion project, highlighting its ability to significantly boost production capacity and provide sustainable packaging solutions that meet customer needs.
