According to local sources, Kimberly-Clark has announced plans to close its Flintshire tissue factory by 2025, putting over 200 jobs at risk.
This decision follows the UK Government's ban on the sale of wet wipes containing plastics. Despite efforts to reduce plastic in its products, Kimberly-Clark is unable to meet the mid-2026 deadline, making it unfeasible to keep the site operational. The company is consulting on the closure and prioritizes supporting affected employees during this challenging period. If approved, the Flint site will remain operational until 2025 while transition plans are developed with customers and retailers.
