A landslide that occurred at Norske Skog Saugbrugs around 04:30 CET on April 27, 2023, resulted in the stoppage of PM6 production.

The landslide has caused damage to building structures, cranes, and other machinery and equipment, resulting in a longer production halt.

According to Sven Ombudstvedt, CEO of Norske Skog ASA, there has been a significant landslide that has caused great damage to the building structure for PM6 at Saugbrugs. The company is currently working to assess the risk of further landslides, but at the moment, it is too dangerous to enter the area. Ombudstvedt assures that no one was harmed in the landslide, but it has been a traumatic and shocking experience for all involved and the local community.

PM6 has a capacity of 260,000 tonnes SC magazine paper, while PM4 operations continue, with a capacity of 100,000 tonnes SC magazine paper. The production and financial impact of the landslide remain uncertain, and further information will be provided once the situation is clear.
