Metsä Board, a leading European producer of fresh fibre paperboards, has rolled out QR codes on pallet and reel labels for all its product deliveries.

This new feature directs customers to an app providing detailed recycling instructions for the packaging materials used during transport.

The initiative aims to make recycling easier and more accessible, helping customers sort materials correctly and minimize waste sent to landfills. By improving recycling practices, Metsä Board seeks to support local circular economies and reinforce its sustainability commitments.

“This initiative reflects our dedication to sustainability and customer convenience,” said Isto Hongisto, Product Safety Specialist at Metsä Board. “By simplifying recycling, we’re helping customers save time and ensure materials are reused effectively.”

The QR codes, implemented in November 2024, are part of Metsä Board’s broader strategy to innovate sustainable practices in the packaging industry.
