Metsä Group has announced the restart of its Joutseno pulp mill following a production shutdown prompted by market conditions and safety concerns in its baling house.

Repairs to the facility's roof structures, deemed a safety risk in September, have been completed, allowing the mill to begin ramping up production on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.

Local residents are advised that the start-up process may cause temporary odor nuisances in the surrounding area.

The Joutseno pulp mill is operated by Metsä Fibre, Metsä Group’s pulp and sawmill business, which also produces biochemicals and bioenergy. Metsä Fibre emphasizes sustainability by offering northern wood-based products as alternatives to fossil materials.
