Munksjö Adopts New Technologies to Double Production and Reduce Environmental Impacts at Its Plant in Caieiras, Brazil
Munksjö, a global leader in decor paper manufacturing, has announced its largest investment in Brazil to date—a €30 million modernization of its Caieiras plant under the Expandecor Project. The initiative, set for completion by 2025, will double the plant's annual production capacity, establishing it as Latin America’s largest decor paper producer.
The project involves upgrading the PM7 paper machine, dedicated to print base papers used in laminate flooring and furniture, and expanding the facility’s infrastructure. This move will enable Munksjö to meet 100% of Brazil's decor paper demand while enhancing exports to markets like Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Mexico.
Beyond boosting production, the investment will drive regional development by creating over 30 new jobs, a 17% increase in the local workforce. It also underscores Munksjö’s commitment to sustainability, with upgrades designed to cut water and energy use, reduce waste, and lower emissions.
“This modernization allows us to deliver high-quality products efficiently while reducing our environmental impact,” said Richard Pino, General Manager of the Caieiras plant. “We are proud to align with Munksjö’s global sustainability goals and strengthen our market position.”
By integrating advanced technologies and sustainable practices, Munksjö aims to meet growing domestic and international market demands while maintaining its leadership in the decor paper sector.
