Mondi, a global leader in sustainable packaging and paper, has started operations on a new extrusion line at its Štětí plant in the Czech Republic.
This development supports the growing demand for eco-friendly packaging solutions and aligns with Mondi’s commitment to advancing the circular economy.
The new extrusion line, part of a larger investment in a state-of-the-art production facility, expands the output of FunctionalBarrier Papers and other coated papers. These recyclable, paper-based materials provide tailored barrier properties for applications ranging from food and non-food packaging to industrial uses like case linings and corrugated materials.
“This milestone reflects our dedication to helping customers achieve their sustainability goals while adhering to our MAP2030 commitments,” said Marko Schuster, COO Functional Paper & Films at Mondi.
FunctionalBarrier Papers, part of Mondi’s re/cycle portfolio, are designed to be recycled within Europe’s existing paper waste streams, offering a practical solution for reducing waste and keeping materials in circulation.
Mondi is a global leader in sustainable packaging and paper, employing 22,000 people in over 30 countries. With a focus on circular-driven solutions, Mondi’s 2030 sustainability commitments aim to create products that contribute to a better world. In 2023, Mondi reported revenues of €7.3 billion and underlying EBITDA of €1.2 billion. The company is listed on both the London Stock Exchange and the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.
