Norske Skog Skogn has solidified its energy future by signing a three-year industrial power agreement with Statkraft.
The deal ensures the supply of approximately 1 TWh (40 MW) to the paper mill in Skogn, Norway, from 2027 to 2029. With this contract, a significant portion of the mill’s energy needs will be met under competitive terms through 2030, complementing previous agreements.
“We are very pleased with this agreement, which will provide the Skogn mill with a stable and substantial power supply at predictable prices going forward,” said Geir Drangsland, CEO of Norske Skog and Chairman of Norske Skog Skogn AS. Drangsland highlighted the benefits of Central Norway’s favorable power prices compared to Southern Norway, emphasizing the deal’s role in maintaining the mill’s competitiveness, safeguarding jobs, and supporting the regional forestry sector.
Statkraft’s Hallvard Granheim, Executive Vice President for Markets, expressed satisfaction with the continued collaboration. “The contract confirms that Statkraft remains a preferred power supplier to Norwegian industry,” he stated, underlining the agreement’s alignment with the company’s commitment to providing competitive energy solutions.
