Oppboga Bruk AB, a prominent Swedish paperboard producer, celebrated a milestone in its history with the official inauguration of its new KLM3 production line.

The installation marks the company’s largest investment in over 50 years, totaling more than €6 million, and signals a commitment to advancing sustainable packaging options.

The grand opening drew a diverse audience, including company stakeholders, local business leaders, politicians, employees, and their families. Henrik Arenvang, Municipal Director of Lindesberg, highlighted the importance of this investment for the local economy, underscoring the positive impact on both employment and community development.

The 50-meter KLM3 line, weighing 110 tonnes, was installed in an impressive five weeks and began operating at nearly full capacity just two weeks later. The machine offers advanced capabilities to laminate thinner papers, opening new avenues for sustainable packaging materials that could reduce or replace plastic components with fiber-based alternatives. Managing Director Andrew Robinson noted that the investment would enable Oppboga Bruk to “explore new wood fibre material constructs,” aligning with global demands for more eco-friendly packaging solutions.

The fully automated KLM3 line also boosts production capacity by 50%, with high-quality output achieved through constant moisture monitoring and adjustment to ensure optimal paperboard flatness. Majority stakeholder Alexander Meyer expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “We are pleased that our investment will allow Oppboga Bruk to continue its growth path into new markets and materials.”

With this new production line, Oppboga Bruk reinforces its role as a forward-looking leader in sustainable paperboard solutions, bringing innovation and economic support to the Lindesberg region.
