Releaf Paper, a pioneer in green waste-based paper products, is joining forces with Uber to lead a global push for sustainable packaging.

The collaboration debuted at Uber's Go Get Zero event in London, marking the launch of the Paris Innovation Pilot, a program aimed at transforming the food delivery and mobility sectors with eco-friendly solutions.

The Paris Innovation Pilot, backed by nearly $1 million from Uber, is the first step in a worldwide strategy to integrate sustainable practices into Uber Eats and other services. Releaf’s innovative paper bags, made from fallen leaves, will be a centerpiece of the initiative, helping restaurants in Paris transition away from plastic and other traditional packaging. These products will be accessible via Uber Eats' Green Packaging Marketplace, offering an easy path for businesses to adopt greener practices.

“This partnership with Uber is a significant milestone,” said Alexander Sobolenko, General Manager of Releaf Paper. “By using fibers from fallen leaves collected in urban areas, we’re turning waste into functional, eco-friendly packaging that reduces deforestation and carbon emissions.”

Releaf’s commitment to sustainability aligns with Uber’s ambitious goal to achieve zero emissions by 2040. The company’s locally produced paper products, soon to be manufactured in France, are a key part of Uber’s strategy to scale eco-friendly solutions globally.

Uber’s investment in Paris not only supports greener packaging but also promotes the adoption of electric vehicles and other green technologies. Restaurants participating in the pilot will receive financial incentives to make the switch to sustainable packaging, further reinforcing the initiative's impact.

The partnership between Releaf and Uber underscores the potential for local innovation to drive global change. Paris, as the launch site, sets the stage for a broader rollout to cities worldwide, with the Paris Innovation Pilot serving as a model for other markets.

“Today’s announcement is just the beginning,” Sobolenko emphasized. “We’re proving that innovative, local solutions can create global impact, contributing to a more sustainable future.”
