Sappi Europe will increase prices across its paperboard portfolio by €89 per tonne, effective for all new orders and deliveries from November 1, 2026.
Announced on October 5, the adjustment is attributed to sustained cost pressures affecting the industry. Sappi said productivity, efficiency and cost-cutting measures have not been sufficient to offset current market conditions. The company did not provide a breakdown by individual paperboard grade, with further implementation details to be communicated directly to customers.
The announcement follows a separate 5–7% price increase for woodfree coated (WFC) sheets sold in European markets, effective for new orders and deliveries from October 12, 2026. Paper Advance reported that adjustment on September 18. The two announcements cover different product segments: coated graphic papers and paperboard.
Sappi is a global producer of woodfibre-based materials, including packaging and speciality papers, graphic papers, pulp and biomaterials. Headquartered in Johannesburg, the company has manufacturing operations in Europe, North America and South Africa.
