Smurfit Westrock has been recognized by Henkel Latin America for its leadership in innovation, sustainability and operational excellence, underscoring the company’s growing role as a strategic packaging partner across the region.
The distinction was announced during Henkel’s first regional edition of Supplier Week, held in Mexico City.
Supplier Week brings together many of Henkel’s most valued suppliers to strengthen partnerships and share best practices supporting the company’s business and sustainability objectives. This year, Smurfit Westrock stood out as the only corrugated packaging provider to receive a recognition, a nomination made directly by Henkel’s regional team.
Henkel highlighted four criteria in granting the distinction: proactive innovation, operational commitment, applied sustainability and responsiveness. These areas have positioned Smurfit Westrock as a reliable partner within Henkel’s supply chain, particularly in key markets such as Mexico, Brazil and Colombia.
“Building long-term relationships like the one we have with Henkel requires consistency, active listening, and a genuine commitment to continuous improvement,” said Jorge Alberto Ángel, CEO of Smurfit Westrock in Mexico. “This recognition reaffirms how, from Mexico, we have driven a collaboration that now expands across other countries in the region.”
Alvaro Henao, CEO of Smurfit Westrock in Latin America, added that the honor reflects the company’s sustained focus on responsible growth. “This recognition symbolizes a relationship built on mutual trust, efficiency and a shared vision of sustainability. Being considered a strategic partner by Henkel validates the value we deliver every day through our solutions, our teams and our commitment to doing things right.”
The award reinforces Smurfit Westrock’s position as a leading packaging supplier in Latin America and reflects its continued investment in innovation and sustainability to support multinational customers in meeting evolving market expectations.
Smurfit Westrock is a global leader in paper-based packaging, formed by the 2024 merger of Smurfit Kappa and WestRock. The company operates mills and converting plants across the Americas and Europe, providing sustainable fiber-based packaging solutions for consumer and industrial markets.
