Stora Enso and ECOR Global have partnered to launch a fully bio-based, formaldehyde-free board, setting a new sustainability benchmark in the board and panel industry.
This innovation leverages Stora Enso’s NeoLigno bio-based binder, replacing fossil-based alternatives and eliminating harmful chemicals.
The new board, designed for furniture, flooring, and exhibition materials, is both recyclable and free from formaldehyde and isocyanates. This collaboration underscores both companies’ commitment to environmentally friendly materials and reducing the industry’s reliance on fossil-based binders.
“This collaboration is an excellent example of how our bio-based solutions can unlock new opportunities for our clients while benefiting both people and the planet,” said Tuomo Heikkinen, VP Head of Biochemicals and Lignin Applications at Stora Enso.
ECOR’s COO, Roberto Reyes, highlighted the breakthrough’s significance: “NeoLigno has allowed us to create a fully bio-based and recyclable product that not only meets industry standards but sets a new benchmark for health and environmental performance.”
The board is now in production and will debut at the Stockholm Furniture Fair from February 4-8, where it will be showcased to a global audience.
