Suzano has signed a long-term commercial agreement with AI-powered land use and supply chain management startup Marvin.

Alongside this, Suzano Ventures has increased its strategic equity holding in Marvin with a follow-on investment, following its initial funding in October 2023.

These milestones follow successful trials validating Marvin’s geospatial intelligence platform across Suzano’s operations. The AI-driven technology will now support Suzano in yield prediction, water resource and risk management, carbon measurement and verification, forest certification, and supply chain optimization.

Expanding Capabilities in Brazil

Marvin, founded in 2023, combines scientific research, geospatial data, and AI to enhance land-use analysis. The company has rapidly grown, offering solutions for industries such as agriculture, forestry, biofuels, and mining. It has also expanded its presence in Brazil to strengthen capabilities in the region’s complex ecosystems.

Strategic Partnership for Sustainability

“Our partnership with Marvin has been an enriching journey of learning and innovation,” said Yhasmin Paiva Rody, R&D Manager at Suzano. “A standout achievement is the creation of a pioneering operational platform that measures water use and carbon sequestration, enabling us to evaluate climate change impacts across our vast forest areas.”

Marvin’s platform supports compliance with sustainability standards, including the Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB) and the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD). It also aids ESG reporting under frameworks such as the GHG Protocol and the EU Deforestation Regulation.

“Marvin’s technology provides sophisticated tools for forest management, validated through trials in our own business,” said Álvaro Gómez Rodríguez, Senior Manager at Suzano Ventures. “This investment will further accelerate its market-leading innovations, reinforcing sustainability in forestry and beyond.”
