Ahlstrom, a global leader in fiber-based specialty materials, has published its 2024 Sustainability Report, detailing its performance and strategic sustainability efforts.
The report emphasizes the company's commitment to "Purify and Protect with Every Fiber for a Sustainable World."
The report, structured using the CSRD framework and a Double Materiality Assessment, offers comprehensive insights into Ahlstrom’s sustainability initiatives. KPMG provided limited assurance on key performance indicators.
"In 2024, we introduced the Safe and Sustainable by Design concept, aligning with the European Commission’s framework," stated Helen Mets, Ahlstrom’s President and CEO. This concept enhances customer discussions by demonstrating the company’s dedication to environmentally optimized products.
Ahlstrom reported significant progress in key areas. The company achieved a record low total recordable incident rate in safety. Its climate targets were validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), and it received a Platinum Medal from EcoVadis and a Leadership score of A- in the CDP carbon disclosure.
The report highlights Ahlstrom's focus on delivering sustainable specialty materials that address global trends. With three divisions—Filtration and Life Sciences, Food and Consumer Packaging, and Protective Materials—the company aims to be a preferred sustainable partner for its stakeholders. Ahlstrom's 2024 net sales reached EUR 3.0 billion, and it employs approximately 6,800 people.
